Like Hollyscoop had previously reported, Kristin Cavallari is desperate to take over Lauren Conrad‘s role on MTV’s hit show The Hills.

Lauren has already said she won’t be returning to the show, and Kristin has reportedly signed on for six new episodes.

She already made an appearance at Heidi and Spencer’s wedding, and even managed to catch the bouquet.

MTV was originally worried that their hit show was going to suffer after Lauren left, but her archenemy Kristin has her claws out and is ready to take over as the star of the show. In fact, she thinks she “do it better than her.”

Despite Lauren Conrad‘s exit, The Hills are alive with the music network.

MTV has announced that the hit reality series will be moving forward, even though its original narrator has already made her departure. New episodes will resume in the fall.

Newlyweds Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt return, as well as Brody Jenner, Stephanie Pratt, Lo Bosworth and Justin Bobby. Audrina Patridge, who recently landed her own reality-show deal with Mark Burnett Productions, will also be back for ample eye-rolling.

Perhaps even more notable is the reemergence of Laguna Beach starlet Kristin Cavallari.

Multiple sources confirm to E! News that her appearance at the Speidi wedding was, as speculated, no accident, and the finale will kick off her arrival on The Hills. We’re told the show will play up some drama relating to her former romance with Jenner from 2004 to 2006 (Conrad dated him after they split).

When asked, Cavallari said she couldn’t talk about the coming season. A show rep could not confirm any of the L.C. replacement rumors circulating.

It’s worth noting, however, that this would not be the 22-year-old blond bombshell’s first time taking over for the other blond bombshell. She took the narrating reins from Conrad in the Laguna Beach days after L.C. left for college. Additionally, Jenner isn’t the only love interest they’ve shared. The two battled for Stephen Colletti‘s attention throughout high school.

A statement from the network also promises “fresh faces, new stories and shocking surprises.”

The current season comes to a close on May 31, climaxing with Pratt and Montag’s vow swap.

Lauren Conrad might be saying goodbye at the end of this season of “The Hills,” but MTV has announced that the show will be back for another season later this year without its original star. The network also announced that some new castmembers will be joining the show to keep things spicy.

“MTV viewers will find out life in Los Angeles only gets more complicated as friendships, relationships and loyalties are tested like never before as ‘The Hills’ returns this fall with more episodes of season five,” reads a press release to MTV News.

If anyone was worried that Lauren’s departure meant other “Hills” favorites would be leaving, fear not: Everyone else will be back to keep the drama alive. “Lauren has moved on, but Heidi, Audrina, Spencer, Brody, Stephanie, Lo and Justin Bobby will be back, as the drama continues with fresh faces, new stories and shocking surprises.”

Of course, the show’s resident newlyweds will also be back. “Spencer and Heidi will be newlyweds,” the statement reads. “So the stakes are higher than ever before for the two to make things work.”

Former “Hills” star Whitney Port talked to MTV News recently about why Conrad decided to jump ship. “I think at this point, she’s put everybody else and the audience in front of her for the last eight years, so now she decided she needs to put herself first,” the “City” star told MTV News. (Editor’s note: Conrad actually debuted on “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County” in 2004.) “I think she’s not happy anymore.”

Whitney said Lauren was tired of having a camera in her face at all times. “We talked about that a lot. I know she was having a lot of difficulty with it as the season was wrapping,” she said. “I think she needs to do what she wants to do. It’s hard. She’s had her life on tape since she was 16 years old.”
