You know her as “Lauren Conrad, reality TV superstar,” but how well do you really know her? Well, Conrad is turning the page from reality TV to reality fiction.

Conrad, who was the star of the reality show, “The Hills,” for the past five years, sat down with Early Show co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez Thursday to discuss her entry into the world of literature with her book, “L.A. Candy.”

“It’s a novel, but it’s about two best friends who get picked to be on a reality show,” Conrad said.

Although the book may be perceived as an autobiography, Conrad insists it’s not.

“It’s (fiction), and it’s made up stories. It’s just inspired by (real-life). You write what you know,” she explained.

And Conrad really knows reality TV.

She was just 18 when the cameras first showed up at her high school. Looking back now, Conrad sees the pros and cons of being a reality TV show star.

“I think, especially at that age when you’re still growing up, it’s a lot of pressure,” she admits. “There’s a lot of criticism and things you have to deal with. There’s a lot of really great things you get to do, too. It’s good and bad.”

Conrad went on to discuss her book, the impact of reality TV, her former nemesis-turned friend and “I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here” star, Hedi Spencer, and the state of reality TV today.

Now that Lauren Conrad has made her exit from MTV’s “The Hills,” will the starlet follow in the footsteps of so many of her Hollywood contemporaries and go under the knife?

Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush recently caught up with Lauren at the book release party for her new novel, “L.A. Candy,” where she revealed her thoughts on getting work done.

“I don’t think so,” Lauren told Billy when asked if she had any plastic surgery plans. “But you know what, I prefer a flatter-chested look, that’s just kind of me. I think it’s more of a more of a fashion look. If you look at a lot of high-fashion models and things like that, they’re always you know, a little flatter… I like the way clothes fit better.”

“You don’t want…” Billy asked.

“Big boobs?” she said. “No, I mean… that’s what wonder bras are for!”

And LC said she’s not looking to get any Botox either – at least not anytime soon.

“I don’t know,” she said when asked about the wrinkle fighter. “I’m 23, I think that I’m good for a little bit. I don’t know, maybe later on.”

Now that LC isn’t living her life in front of a camera, obsessing about her appearance might be the last thing on her mind.

“I said I would do [‘The Hills’] for as long as I was happy and I wasn’t happy doing it any more,” she said of her departure from the hit MTV series after five seasons. “We all grew apart it wasn’t really a show about a group of friends any more. It was a show about a cast.”

In addition, LC said she’s not very connected with her infamous frenemy Heidi Pratt.

“I don’t have much of a relationship [with Heidi.] I mean, it’s friendly, if I see her, I’ll say ‘Hello,’ but that’s about it,” she explained.

LC shot down rumors that she was contractually obligated by the MTV series to attend the couple’s wedding.

“No, I wasn’t. I wasn’t obligated to go [to the wedding.]” she said of the “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!” couple. “[Heidi] genuinely did ask me. So I figured, yeah it’s going to be uncomfortable, but it’s her big day!”

And as for her own big day, LC said she would like to get married and start a family eventually.

“Some day. I’m not someone who feels like a pressure to get into that. I think that I’m still pretty young and I’ve got a while to do all I want to do,” she explained, adding, “I think that when you have kids, it’s all about them. So I think that I need to be selfish for a little bit and do it all about me.”

And beside herself, she’s also all about boyfriend Kyle Howard, star of TBS’s “My Boys.” LC credits the success of their relationship by keeping her mouth shut about him.

“Nobody knows about him. That’s the best part!” she said of 31-year-old actor who wasn’t part of the “Hills” gang, adding, “I think that me not talking about it [has] made it go for a while.”

Lauren Conrad may have left The Hills behind, but that doesn’t mean she can’t still laugh at it with the rest of us.

Ms. L.C. herself stopped by last night’s, “The Hills: A Staged Reading,” put on by the Upright Citizen’s Brigade, and enjoyed the festivities alongside fans and comedians alike. Even better? Private Practice star Kate Walsh played the role of the recently retired reality Hills denizen, and Lauren couldn’t get enough.

Throughout the evening, Walsh performed an uncanny impersonation of Conrad’s now infamous Hills lines including, “Tell me if he’s cute ’cause I’m drunk,” “You’re a bad person. That’s reality,” and the classic diss said to ex-BFF Heidi Pratt “I want to forgive you, and I want to forget you.” Surprisingly enough, the real Lauren sat rows away laughing at Walsh…and thus laughing at herself.

The Upright Citizen’s Brigade kept the mood light, giving the night a truly accurate introduction to the night: “You’ve seen Shakespeare, you’ve seen Mozart, now experience the work of the greatest geniuses of our time. It’s Heidi vs. Lauren and it’s really, really important.”

Truer words have never been spoken. Really.

Lauren Conrad is no longer mixing it up with Audrina Patridge, Brody Jenner and Heidi and Spencer Pratt on MTV’s “The Hills,” and despite the emotions that come with saying goodbye to the show that made her a star, she’s happy with the road ahead.

“Last night was my last episode of “The Hills.” It was a bittersweet night for me. A part of me is sad to say goodbye to something that has been such a prominent part of my life, but I know that it was time and I am very happy with my decision,” she wrote on her MySpace blog.

Lauren also took a moment to offer her gratitude to her fans.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has watched and supported me over the years,” she continued. “While putting my personal relationships and struggles on television wasn’t always easy, the support I received from people made such a difference. Because of all of you, I was able to accomplish so many aspirations and for that I am very grateful. So, THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!”

In addition to writing a series of young adults novels and working on a new fashion line, the reality starlet hinted that she has even more exciting plans in her future.

“I have some interesting projects in the works and I will keep you all updated,” she wrote.

And though she won’t be sparring with Spencer or hugging it out with Heidi anymore, LC said the upcoming sixth season with her former “Laguna Beach” co-star Kristin Cavallari will be filled with the drama that fans love.

“From what I’ve heard the next season will not disappoint,” she added.

I quit watching “The Hills” early in Season 4 when it really became the same show every week. Heidi misses Lauren, Lauren hates Heidi, Heidi hates that Lauren hates her. And at all points in between, Spencer is a jerko.

But I love a good TV event, especially when it’s the final episode featuring the girl with the greatest smile in television history: Lauren Conrad.

So here we go with some of the great, terrible, awkward and remarkably strange moments from the Season 5 finale of “The Hills.”

- Stephanie asks Heidi who her maid of honor will be and she tells her that she picked Holly. Stephanie gets a little snooty with her body language and facial expression. Then Heidi supports her decision with this gem: “Just because she’s been, you know, my sister my whole life.” Interesting analysis by Ms. Montag.

- Lauren Conrad to Brody Jenner about the Heidi wedding: “While everyone else is attending a wedding, I’d be attending a funeral.” Ouch.

- Why does Spencer’s mustache for the meal scene with Brody hang down below his upper lip?

- Holly’s rehearsal dinner speech: (Turn on high-pitch voice now) Awwwwwwwwkward! (turn off high-pitch voice now).

- Who has the better mustache, Heidi’s dad, or Spencer’s friend Charlie? Such a tough call. Daddy Montag has some serious cowboy handlebars. Charlie’s ‘stache has an enviable 1955 Frenchman sleezy quality to it. This could take a few weeks to determine.

- A food-throwing, wine-drinking, crying and hysterical Holly is borderline terrible to watch on television. But I couldn’t change the channel. Sort of like when a movie is so bad, it becomes good.

- Heidi to Holly: “I would never un-maid of honor you.” Um???

- It’s a wedding in a church, Brent Bolthouse. Put a tie on. Seriously.

- Was that Justin Bobby in a jacket, no tie, scruffy hair and extra thick beard sitting with Kristin Cavallari, or was it Joaquin Phoenix?

- I watched an episode of “Days of Our Lives” this past week because a friend of mine played a reporter on it. This Cavallari-Conrad-Montag triangle feels even more daytime soap opera than “Days.” It’s almost unbearable to fight through the final 10 minutes of this show. OK, in the time it took me to write that previous sentence, it became completely unbearable.

- Lo Bosworth, typically the parsley of “The Hills” (you know, she’s always there on the plate but doesn’t contribute much to the overall meal), dropped a pair of bombs during the wedding: “You match” she said to a L.C. when telling her that Cavallari was there; “Third time’s a charm, right?” she added to L.C. after the priest presented the happily married couple.

- What a bunch of scripted yang that Cavallari caught the Montag bouquet. I mean, really. Every chance this show gets to insult our intelligence, it does. I, like L.C., am officially done with “The Hills.” (Of course, I won’t be getting royalties checks, but whatever.)

- We’ll miss you greatly, L.C. Although, I have a feeling we’ll see you again somewhere soon.
